About The Band

The Slapdash Quartet performs Jazz standards and contemporary Jazz music in and around Columbus, Ohio (USA). The band is comprised of four members who get together and perform Jazz gigs around Central Ohio regularly. The band typically performs either a two hour or a three hour performance, and has many possible songs to choose from for their
Set List. In addition to the four regular band members, the Slapdash Quartet also hosts performances where musical guests are welcome to join the band on stage performing well-known Jazz hits. Several of the band's members also perform in other bands in the Central Ohio area, including the Swing's The Thing Big Band, and the currently on hiatus Best of Seven rock band. The Slapdash Quartet band has been performing together around Central Ohio since year 2000 or earlier. For more details about the Slapdash Quartet band members and their individual talents, please visit the Band Biographies section. For information about upcoming performances or to schedule a performance, please see the Upcoming Gigs section. For other information on the band, including sample songs and videos from the band performing, please see the approprate links shown above. Thank you in advance from all of the band for visiting our web site and coming out to enjoy our live music.

Next Performances

Slapdash Quartet's next scheduled public performances include:

  • The Big Band is scheduled for the Mannerchor on the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov 27th 2009, starting at 7:30 PM. (Tony and Janet of the Slapdash Quartet are members of this band also.) Dancing is available at this venue, which is located at 966 South High St., Columbus Ohio. Start time is at 7:30 PM, $5 for seniors and students, $8 for everyone else unless you PRINT THIS E-MAIL for a $3 savings and pay what a student would pay-- $5. Here is the web site: http://www.maennerchor.com/ PRINT THIS EMAIL (part of the web page?) and take it with you for a cover charge of only $5 each. (Pricing at the discretion of the Mannerchor not SDQ or DWCC).
  • Also, a Dinner Club on the North Side of Columbus at Vonn's Jazz Lounge, Saturday, Nov 28th starts at 5:30 to 8, $5 cover -- http://vonnjazz.com/landingindex.html/ Nice menu, bit pricey, but they do serve a good drink there. I recommend an appetizer there and dinner elsewhere. The music will be a bit different than the Friday night performance as it is more of a concert setting.
  • The Big Band is playing again at Mannerchor the third Friday of December, Dec. 18th 2009 at 7:30 PM.
  • If you have any venue ideas please let us know by e-mail or telephone as shown in the Contact section. As always, thank you for your patronage of Slapdash Quartet.

    Venue Information

Slapdash Quartet has played at the following indoor and outdoor venues around Central Ohio (listed below in mostly alphabetical order):

The Dodge Center is a nice new recreation center located in Central Columbus. The address of the Dodge Center is 667 Sullivant Avenue, Columbus (43215). From the East Side, take I-70 Westbound to the Rich St./Town St. exit, turn right, go two streets East of the exit and turn right again, which should be Grubb Road/Street. Take Grubb Road/Street to the end of it, and then you can drive directly into the large paved Dodge Cetner parking lot. It is very conveniently located, as it is easy to get to The Dodge Center from the freeway, and to get back to the freeway afterwards. Ample lighted free parking is available.

Gahanna VFW Post 4719 is located at 124 Parkland Drive in Gahanna (43230). This venue is located where Johnstown Road dead-ends into Memorial Park. The VFW is located just south of Memorial Park in Gahanna. If you are coming from I-270 exit onto Hamilton Road, and head north to Gahanna. Turn left at Granville Street and head West. Turn left at the first street after crossing the bridge over Big Walnut Creek; note that this is a short street! Turn left at the stop sign and head towards Memorial Park. As you head into the park there is a driveway on the right with a "Private Drive" sign. Turn right into that driveway, the VFW is up at the end of the driveway. [Tony says "Confusing, yes, but if you find Memorial Park, you'll find the VFW!".] For more details on the venue please call the Gahanna VFW at 614-475-9111. We hope to see you there!

The Old Bag of Nails Restaurant & Pub is located on the corner of State Street (State Route 3) and Main Street in Downtown Westerville (43081). Typically there is no cover charge for this venue, and many food and drink items are available for a nominal charge. Come on down and enjoy the great food that the Old Bag of Nails Restaurant and Pub has to offer and stay to enjoy the music of Slapdash Quartet.

Village Wines and Bistro is located at 600 West Waterloo Street in the area of olde Canal Winchester (43110). Their phone number is 614-833-2828 if you should need additional information. Beginning August 1st 2006 they will have a new menu featuring small plates and dinner entree's. Come on out and enjoy some great food and wines while listening to the great live Jazz music of Slapdash Quartet.

Weldon's Ice Cream Shoppe is located in the recently rebuilt shopping plaza near Downtown Lancaster on the NE corner of Memorial Drive (Route 33A) and East Sixth Avenue, and is across Memorial Drive from the BP Station. There is ample free parking in this and surrounding Plaza's parking lots nearby. Weldon's phone number is 740-689-2663 if you should need further directions. Enjoy the many tasty flavors of Hand Dipped Ice Cream of Weldon's while listening to Slapdash Quartet.

(Gig and venue information last updated on 11/04/2009 by Webmaster Dave and the band!)

Former Venues of the Slapdash Quartet include (listed in order of most recent appearances):

The Three Cups Coffeehouse was located at 7524 East Main Street in Reynoldsburg (43068), which is just West of Waggoner Road in the newly rebuilt Downtown District. Unfortunately, Three Cups Coffeehouse closed it's doors (forever?) on September 30, 2006. All Three Cups Coffeehouse gigs started at 8 PM and lasted about two hours unless otherwise noted. Ample free parking was provided in front of and next to this location. Typically there was no cover charge for this venue. The location and their staff will sadly be missed.

In 2005 Slapdash Quartet played regularly at Kennedy's Pub (also known as Kennedy's on the Quayes) located off of Polaris Parkway in Northern Columbus (43035). Kennedy's does not currently have live music scheduled, but it was a good venue with free appetizers when it was active. Their phone number is 614-430-8639 if you would like to request Slapdash Quartet to come back. Maybe Slapdash Quartet will be back there again some day.

Around the 2004 timeframe Slapdash Quartet played at the Harvest Moon Coffee House in Downtown Canal Winchester (43110). It is a quaint little venue with good atmosphere and beverage. Their phone number is 614-834-8100. Maybe Slapdash Quartet will be back there again some day.

All venue and performance information is subject to change without notice. Please call ahead if you are not sure of start times or availability.
